Actually, more with my mother-in-laws than my wifes. They are from German and English stock...so yea, the food tastes about as bland as you would expect

I have an Italian last name, so I expect a little zest here and zing there. "this needs more salt." "salt is bad for you" "yea, but so is starving"

I'm from German heritage and wife is from British/Polish. Not much motivation to embrace the cuisine of our ancestors. We already cook most meals from scratch but mostly go to the other end of the flavor spectrum with a lot of Mexican, Thai, Spicy Chinese dishes. Last night was Hunan Beef with Naga King chiles to break a good sweat.

@Biodegraded, I have heard that song before! @crazychile, I am envious. If I had the patience/interest I would do more in the kitchen, but the truth is I don't like the kitchen.

A girlfriend said, "Why do you put salt in your cooking?"
Me, "Because it makes it taste better."
Her, "No. It makes it tastes of salt."

I stopped. For a while, I overcompensated with garlic.

Now, I don't add any salt when cooking (a few micrograms in omelete or scrambled) or on the plate. Over thirty years later, I can say, for sure, she was right.
