Yeah it's hard to go back to headphones as your main listening option. I do wish people like Doug and Donald would take a stab at speaker amps though. Would be fun

it's a step up on others however...that's my experience. Were you doing "near-field" with those Harbeth's? Near-field can be (as long as you sit still) a kind of 'best of both worlds' in my (granted limited) experience...

@Melvillian Donald will make you a speaker amp as long as you're willing to pay $$$, think low 5-digits.

@famish99, if I recall correctly your not the biggest fan of the Verite. Is that the limiting factor, or is it the whole HP vs. speaker thing you think?

@crenca you'd be surprised how modest of a speaker setup you need to outresolve most headphones. I'd even go as far and say my Fortes do microdetail better than any headphone I've heard.

When the Harbeths sound good, they sound beautiful. Better midrange and treble than any headphone I’ve ever heard. The clarity in the midrange is beautiful. They obviously can’t go very low so that’s one area where headphones would be better.

I’m getting a modest speaker setup soon. Not expecting to get blown away. But I hope it is good enough to convince me to begin my journey down the good ol’ rabbit hole.

Yes, positively surprised by how well the Harbeths' strengths in resolution and imaging scaled with the better source. Too bad they're too inefficient for something like an Aegir or XA25. Need to look into other amp options.

@saint.panda , have you considered the Accuphase amps? Even their class-AB Integrateds apparently are very good.

Can always look for other speakers too ;)
