Through my church I have ties to Ukraine and the Ukrainian ex-pat population here in the U.S. The fact is that eastern european culture has a strong racist and anti-semitic thread through it. Their culture being behind the iron curtain did not go through the revolutionary 60's like ours did.

They are probably where we were at in the early sixties...racism is just "normal" for many, but is very rapidly being challenged and put in its place. Unfortunately, cultureal change is hard and many get left behind...

Fair enough but it depends on your pov. The analogy in my head is if you pick the right distro and hardware like picking the right amp and dac you can get some truly great results. If you know what you're doing you don't have to spend much but it will scale like mad. Think supercomputers etc.

Nowadays if you install Fedora it will work out of the box on most and even new hardware. Like you can plug 6xx's into a cheap amp and source and still get acceptable results.

@Hands, My late-start computer days began with Unix; I loved it at first sight; I hated MS at first site.

My early attempts with Red Hat, however, were a non starter. So, sadly, I left Linux alone for years.

It shouldn't sound as good as it does. And being able to tune the signature to your preference with an abundance of compatible tubes is a nice bonus.

@E_Schaaf Streaming eats data if on the go. I don't need FLAC if I'm playing in my Honda. Now I wish I can have Bandcamp stream to PI boxes without using the website (UPnP Concept like Qobuz/Tidal). Sometimes I see an album on BC but then it is also on Qobuz, so I try it out on Qobuz first.

I agree, people have one setup they used with a laptop. I personally hate that, so my weaker high value setup is on my computer desk while my PI setup has the BF2 > Starlett.

Have you tried the Mullard EF184s yet? Adds a bit more bass and body. Great combination with the Auteurs.

Not yet, I dunno where to get those tubes. Not rushing it, I like the sound of stock at this time.
