I'm guilty of long reviews sometimes too... but knowing how impatient I am sometimes (even for a relatively fast reader) I will usually leave a TL;DR summary.
Regardless, it's a good review. @crenca - Just me, but I've heard Verite and Verite closed on Starlett and my Stellaris as well as a few SS amps. Did not get rid of the W on any amp, but it was on the right side of just palatable for me with closed + either DNA amp... unfortunately I'm not spending $1k+ on a "just palatable" headphone... as good as the VC is (and superior to my current gear) in most aspects.
@crenca what @fp627 said. The amp doesn't fix the VO sins. It can improve the strengths on the headphones like the 600/650, but they are still the same headphone as you put them on.
Man you guys didn't read the conclusion part of my post. For someone who might be spending that much on an amp, you better have tons of datapoint on that thing. :)
Maybe it's just my own propensity for purple prose but I don't find lengthy walls of text offensive unless they end up ultimately saying nothing; YMO's was fine, I got the gist of the amp :P
I also just skimmed the whole thing cuz and properly read interesting bits. I definitely don't expect anyone to slow-read stuff like that unless they hate having time.
No doubt that's a very dense and useful data point. Nevertheless I also skimmed as I am not ready to spend $2k (a little less if buy used) now. But may go through word to word deeply when I get to seriously consider DNA for myself. Don't hope it to come in the foreseeable future though lol
