I feel like it's generally really difficult to tell whether or not a strip is making an improvement when you have to power cycle all your gear and it takes time to warm up. I have detected some differences cold, but not beyond placebo necessarily.
I'll get tarred/feathered, but PSAudio Dectet, and/or a Duet (that I think is best cause no wire, just beefy copper bus bars and huge inductor, only 2 pair outlets tho, will never sell it) don't believe in their regen's won't go that far
I like cheap and simple for this kind of stuff (nervosa be damned). I did replace my wall outlets because they were super crappy and basically anything I plugged in literally fell out. For outlet expansion, I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V58T0C
I'm used to it, but have taken it to friends places dropping it in place of a cheap power strips & everyone just looks at each other WTF... my thought is at least don't use a 5 dollar power strip.
I bought this rack mounted jobby for $49 because 1) it wasn’t super expensive, 2) it had plenty of outlets, 3) I thought I was going to be rack mounting more stuff (as it turns out, DIYing a 1U switch box using Front Panel Express is so f'ing expensive). It works really well. It does not include audiophile baubles, so perhaps not for sophisticated ears but I can’t tell a difference.
I like cheap and simple too, but I'd rather have a mov than fried electronics. Not that I'm really crazy abut surge protection, other than planning it for the whole house. Since about ten years ago.
I use a Furman PL8 II, sounds a bit cleaner with it then without i think. Main thing is the protection it offers. Be wary of noisy units thoug, it's the transformer for the lights but you can open up and disconnect it. Dead silent now.
Accell power squid for a cheap power protector (also has a tiny bit of noise filtering). Maybe sounded better at a placebo level vs wall outlet, but things didn't get worse. Bought for convenience at time.
Otherwise I'm also using 2 Tripplite Isobar surge protectors and haven't had any issues including gimped sound quality.
A guy on another forum (I left) made himself an extension box. It was well done and a work of art, but... "I filled it with clear acrylic for the insulation." Yes, it looked nice. But WTF does he think the *air* does in ordinary strips? Audiophool.
My plug/socket nervosa is the oxide that builds up. Good idea to keep them clean. Oh, did I mention I'm lazy...
If used for surge protection they work once and it’s over and they wear out over time so might not even protect fully. That’s how I understood it anyway.
