    In spring of 1985, I did a motorbike trip from Victoria BC, through the Southern US and back up to Ottawa for a uni work term. I slept outside beside my bike outside of Sante Fe and woke up with my face completely swollen - couldn't recognize myself in the mirror of a McD's bathroom.

    Kinda freaking out, I went to a walk-in clinic and paid a doctor $100 to tell me to go buy some Benadryl (obviously, it was an allergic reaction to some kind of pollen or whatever).
