    HD800 is unlistenable without mods. Not surprised you prefer your HD650.

    Coming from HD650, I wouldn't have my hopes up too high. Most likely the HD800SD (and HD800S) will still be too bright for you.

    The HD 650 modded seemed a little dark for me in a good way though. Maybe I would also need to do the drawer liner mod as well.

    Yes, you should try the SBAF absorber mod. Maybe you won't like it as much as I do, but it made a substantial difference for me.
