The free version of Voxengo Span is fun to play with. Nice visual spectrogram analyzer display and frequency display. I use JRiver as my primary playback software. In part because it supports VST plugins like Voxengo Span.

JRiver here - FB2K can't use 64-bit VSTs. Favorites for serious stuff is DMG: Equilibrium, Essence and TrackControl. Favorite for injecting a little fun is SPL TwinTube. Feel free to tell ASR that I pay for distortion :).

You can install a driver to run JRiver as a soundcard in Windows - maybe Roon can output to that?

shucks @GoodEnoughGear , I got excited because I got it backwards in my head - I was thinking the Jriver WDM driver would be a way to stream via ethernet Jriver to PI 2AES...

Wanting to move away from USB...Roon actually sees Jriver in audio setup up (asio & wasapi), but to be honest I have never bothered to use it...but in the end it's Jriver to Pi that I want...though I have Ropiee XL on the Pi so I suppose I could DLNA from Jriver to it...
