Really sorry to hear. My dad actually went through something very similar recently, making for a pretty hellish month. Hope you're pain-free soon, eating whatever you want!
Speedy recovery. I had dry socket + infection after wisdom tooth extraction and had a couple weeks of misery. Don't wish dental pain (or associated liquid diet) on anyone.
Finally off the baby food sized bites. At least I could sip my favorite beverages throughout, which eased the pain a bit. @Soups : hope your dad has recovered. @Superexchanger : that sounds so terrible, makes me cringe.
