I've never read this one anywhere. Is this in US broadcasts or social media focussed news sources? Looks like internet slang to me. Like something to look up on urban dictionary.
@DigMe it must be. This reminds me of 'addictive' vs. 'addicting'. I had not once seen or heard the word 'addicting' until maybe ten or so years ago. Then I started seeing it online. But only in American media. I genuinely thought it was an error when I first read it. This word did not exist as part of my education or upbringing in Australia.
