I’m especially thinking about my 789 with Sigma11 linear power supply which needs to be powered down in the right way and my Liquid Platinum which is known to be fussy about power.

Better to switch off your electronics and take power cord out of outlet in case of storm. Better to be safe then sorry.

The only thing that makes it safe from lightning strike is removing the power cords from the outlets. Lightning can even do damage via the ground connection.

Time for a UPS so I don’t have to worry about it.

Unplug unless you feel like tasting the lightning. That shit has flown down miles and a small gap of a switch won't matter if it really wants to cook your stuff.

Remove all power cables, TV-cable stuff, etc etc.

If you are really worried, then.... It's Faraday Cage time.

BTW: my computer is fine with my UPS, however my amplifier is more sensitive and turns itself off. And you would have to unplug the UPS.

No power outage. I Tom Hanks’ed it and left most stuff on. It wasn’t a lightning storm but super high winds that was the danger.

@rhythmdevils - NO! Never tandem connect power conditioners, surge protectors, UPS. The surge suppression circuits can interact in negative ways. The UPS linked is a stepped approximation sine type. Not something I would use for audio. You want true sine output. See APC Smart UPS for comparison. Also much more expensive.

Nice save! I thought doubling them up wouldn’t be a good idea but now I know! I’ll probably wait to get one conditioner to rule them all

How about protecting yourself? Jump up and down: at least it reduces the chances that you are connected to earth through your feet.
