I'd love to, but I balk at the cost. I don't use streaming services so it feels weird to pay so much money per month (or more than I paid for my Bifrost 2 for the lifetime) to access local files. Moode works fine, and is better than Volumio, so I will adapt for now. If my audio life gets more complicated or higher end, it will definitely be something I look at again.
It's a mixture of great features but also just great design. You want to interact with it and dive in and discover. MoOde is a mess, mConnect is a mess. All those things are messes.
I got a year sub to see if I'd use it, and I'm definitely gonna pay lifetime once it's up.
@flagger did you ever use Roon before like a free trail? You can try it out for a certain amount of days to see if you like it. The only down side with Roon is you can't find music based on a folder structure on a hard drive. This is why for some music I still use Roon and UPnP.
PS - You can also add the moOde bookmark to your smartphone home screen. I did this with iOS and Android. Android actually has the moOde logo as the icon. Note, you have to use the IP, as phones don't know what do do with the .local (ie. moode.local)
If you're using Android phone, I found MALP quite painless, since it connects directly to mpd, though you still have to go back to Moode browser for EQ etc
I don’t use streaming services either and access my music from my pi via networked or local drives. As such, I like using Rune. The GUI is nice enough and not laggy like moode. I prefer the Rune+R version. The only quirk I’ve had is that local drives need to be formatted to NTFS instead of exfat. https://www.runeaudio.com/forum/runeaudio-r-e6-t7141.html
