I think I've only seen you even mention the speakers here a few times off hand, which is nice in a way, don't want to MOTs pushing their stuff. but god damn man, these speakers are fantastic, so now im out here pounding the drum. It is true they aren't cheap though. Maybe when I get up to the closest dealer, I can try out some of the cheaper ones as well and report back on them too

I'm using ZMF pads on my Susvara. Quality made, and sonically excellent.

May I suggest those cheap thin "leather" pads (because they are NOT made of leather) from AliExpress? I've tried quite some options, not ZMF, but 2 types of Dekoni and 4(?) kinds of cheap Chinese pads, those thin "leather" pads suit me the best, as they sound kinda warm-ish while others still give me the chill or spikes sometimes.

Someone here tried them but I’m having trouble finding the impressions. IIRC they made some things better and some things worse. The consensus basically remains that, for HD800, stock pads are best. That’s what @ext1 uses, for instance.

Then I found 'Monkey King'. I liked it, so did kids.

Pinocchio is great, although a bit grim for little ones.

Just watched Pee Wee's Big Adventure with my 8-year-olds. They thought it was hilarious. A few scary bits during some dream sequences with clowns, but overall very enjoyable. Great to revisit it after many years. Still holds up.

Well... The full range system is going to cost you.. or can you DIY it? :/ :D Nothing in the regular markets places has this level of perfection. Even EC Studio vs EC 2A3 MK2 would trade blows because MK2 had better bass imaging(<-- HP world).

Hear my reasoning. There is long been 'AI' at work with mic enhancement and noice cancelling to make voices more intelligible and remove various formats of ambient noise in real time.

Why not do something along the lines with reproduction. Any audio tinkerer knows by adding any 'stage' you remove information from the source. Consider the chain of crap in a BT headset. So something should attempt to estimate back what the original kind of was. Wrong as it may be - one evil counters another.

Yea, some normal dacs do it too. I like to remember the wavedream did this.

A little compression, some exciters, maybe even crystallized effects, and throw in a band pass. The dsp can do it all + eq

The audiophool thinking being that "isolated" would mean zero area of contact, so a very small area of contact is close to isolated. I have always thought, Duhhh, what?

Cat's claws do not decouple from your skin when she gets angry at you. Tiny point of contact - rather effective coupling.

Tbh, I stuffed some lamb wool (speaker damping) into the nozzle of the Mi buds to kill the brightness.

I think the Xiaomi Airdot isn't significantly worse than the Sony offering, at least.

The Earfun Pro Oluv edition sounds better than the Galaxy Buds Pro/Airpods Pro. So might not be a lot better SQ wise.

Fire is no problem to gelatinoids. We just through a leg at it and put it out. Growing a new leg is easy enough, and anyway, we don't use them much.

Not only does your vocabulary fail, but it also gets increasingly difficult to describe why X is better/more refined/different than Y as your invest more in tailoring the sound to your personal tastes.

This is why I can't share impressions anymore. Having different shades of really good sound is one thing, almost no one can relate to the gear so I can say headphone X is super nice but I've no idea how it sounds on other gear. Also I feel the driving gear has taken hold of the overall sound signature where all headphones are to my tastes. Fell in love with HD800 where for years I couldn't stand it long term.

The difference might vanish if you drink more....or less

The microdynamics are noticeably improved resulting in more relaxed and 3D instrument images.

This is in my workplace critical listening system. Perhaps less noticeable in lesser systems.

Also, crucially, it would take custom housing plus holtzman resonators to best shape the sound. As we saw with Dunu, they aren't willing to invest in that to make a great iem.

CF: Using our signature A.D.L.C. (amorphous diamond-like carbon) coating material .. reads like it's a coating on top of aluminum or Mylar or smth, ie not the bulk material itself. The base material roughly has as much it's own sound as the ratio of weight to the coating would be. Well, with speaker drivers it is so.

They are pretty un-exceptional, I'm sticking with their speakers.

From speakers A2 is a much better dac than OG. In a different league for sure.
