    This has changed my personal view of simple flu vaccination, too, in that I've never personally received a flu vaccine, but I will likely seek it out this season simply for the safety of others.

    But, today the public shaming began - at Costco, while I remain maskless, two older women made it a point to either scowl at me or point to her own mask and shake her head at me. If only we had this sort of feeling of disgust for distracted driving.

    @StageOne It's been a long time I soldered anything and this one was a doozy but in the end the amp came out fine. I think the part that may get you is that the initial start up cost (soldering iron, solder, tweezers, wire clippers, etc..). Do eet!

    To hijack this question a bit... could you use a TVC to do balanced-to-SE conversion, instead of a dedicated fixed-ratio balanced-to-SE converter? Tempted to get a Silk TVC, and this would add another reason to get one.

  TFW I realize FreyaS is what's injecting hiss noise into high gain hp setup. Even in passive it's dumping hiss into tu-8600. Much sadz.

    Through manipulation of gain setting and volume control on both pre and amp, I have always been able to reach something between nonexistent and good enough w/r/t noise, at least with the 'phones I have. Fingers crossed.

    For now I'll just bypass it: YggyA2 gimped RCAs straight into TU8600. As far as grounding, I'm hindered by 1940's 2 pole copper in oiled cotton house wiring, tho I may play with alternative grounding between components.
