Same with me on swimming, trying to be as consistent as possible and learn from past mistakes.

I was just reading about this kid posting mile world records for his age group since he was 5. Most recent was a 4m43s at age 11. All were done barefoot.

It’s essential also what you run on has a big impact. After a bunch of injuries i found out about natural running using minimalist shoes and after an adjustment period they can be counted on one hand since 2013. And i made some distance, at my peak i was at 100k a week. Injury free.

I've been running barefoot for the last 10 years after injuring my knees and looking to improve form. I've broken a toe, but that was playing tag with my daughter. Peak at 56km/week and sub 2hr half marathon. I won't go back unless forced to.

@GoodEnoughGear - one of the things I've discovered is that going completely barefoot is actually better then just going minimalist because it really makes you change your form. I wouldn't even consider heel striking on concrete barefoot.

Exactly! I advise anyone looking at barefooting to go full barefoot. Sure, use FiveFingers or whatever for unfriendly and/or hot surfaces when you need to, but going fully barefoot sets limits that prevent overuse injuries and encourages (to put it mildly) proper form.
