Yup, I've a tiny desk (no live concerts sadly) and the 65% form is far more comfortable. My main gripe is that I've long grown accustomed to using the numpad for numbers and also often use the em-dash alt code.
On a more disappointing note: three of the keycaps that I've found so far fly off if I don't press them carefully enough. Bit of a shock when a couple flew off during work, and rather irked given the price.
Damn that sucks. Warranty time… those go for at least 100 right?
I use some sort Chinese low profile mechanical knockoff. Works fine but needs a cleaning now and then. I’m by no means a connoisseur haha.
I've been using membrane keyboards for probably a solid decade now other than the times I've tried mechs at shops over the last couple years or so, far from a connoisseur! I'm looking into getting an RMA but apparently stocks are low so I might have to settle for blue switches or get a refund and try elsewhere.
And yup, it cost $105 including shipping and for that price I'm less reserved about complaining.
Refund in the works and I'm planning on perhaps getting Browns next; feel like the tactile might suit my preferences a bit more, though I certainly enjoyed the Reds... when I wasn't having to worry about them flying off.
It's just one data point, but I've liked the Anne Pro 2. Learning curve for various function keys like PgUp/Dn was annoying, but no moreso than learning Apple's multitouch voodoo for example.
Hah, customs are for after I get done with fountain pens, probably.
The Anne Pro and Akko 3608 look intriguing! Would be nice to save a bit, thanks for the tip. Still really new to keyboards so it's like I'm learning of a new brand every few seconds.
I get the best typing accuracy from a Keychron K2 with default keycaps, but aesthetically I just like the Anne Pro 2 with this cheap-o set of DSA profile carbon-ish keycaps I got from Amazon https://i.imgur.com/E44vqSf.jpg
I got one of those Ducky keyboards. I got it for all the hype. A CoolerMaster can be had for much less and is about the same thing (sturdy, heavy brick).
The Keychron has been on my list but I'd rather not have to deal with batteries nor need BT, though quality of life things are always nice to have. And yep,, bought into the hype too and while I expected some deck flex the caps flying off was a severe irritant.
@philipmorgan spaced on this, sorry! And yeah the option to go wireless is a nice-to-have but given my luck with batteries I'm doing my utmost to avoid them as best I can; it just feels to me like a more overt way to shorten an appliance's lifespan, giving it a built-in battery.
