What’s the reason for doing this? Don’t oversampling DACs already do this in hardware?

DAC dependent for me, it can be too snappy for me sometimes

@Syzygy I could not find such a setting. It has a max upsample rate, but no setting for setting just a max. (using a vintage DAC here). I started playing around with SoX to see if I could set a max to keep lower files the same, but when playing high-res, resampled to 24/48.

bit depth=any, sample rate=192, upsample if source < target (adhere to base freq), stereo, quality very high, multithreading yes

these are the settings I use

@Syzygy I set the same, except 24/48, and it plays a 44.1 file at base, but still upsamples to 24 bit. hmmm...this is probably my only option.

And right @dubharmonic, upsampling only increases your DAC oversampling rate essentially.
