Yeah @crenca, Peter just liked Stewart's hi-hat work.

Phil Collins is credited with only playing the snare drum on Gabriel’s song “Family Snapshot”.

This is also true @Merrick. Phil played on Gabriel's first album with no cymbals. Phil found the whole process maddening. Gabriel is just an odd one.

Steward Copeland is a better drummer than Phil Collins. Am I nuts for making this statement?

They are both great drummers @jaker782. Go listen to the early stuff like "Duke's Travels" or "Supper's Ready (that whole 7-8 section during the jam part) and you will understand.

I am quite familiar with Phil's work on 70's era Genesis (I am a big fan of that era, not so much after Peter left). I just have a soft spot for Stewart's work in the Police. I used to be obsessed with them!

Collins’ most interesting drumming is probably with Brand X, if I’ve remembered the name of the band correctly.

Oh, and the jam section in Supper's Ready is in 9/8. They told Dave Brubeck, "5/4? Hold my beer."
