I kind of like that. I've been looking for a mini ITX case to use for a home PC that I'll use for general purposes, CD ripping, and multimedia management. What drew you to an open case vs. a regular SFF case?

That looks cool. I run a semi-fanless in a case but that would be perfect as a full fanless option. Let us know how the build goes.

@zonto Purely about the looks :) The computer will be 98% stationary, and I think my cats will mostly leave it alone, so I just wanted something cool looking.

@GoodEnoughGear Will do! I spent about a minute considering the Noctua NH-P1, but I'm planning for a 125W TDP CPU, so a passive CPU cooler ain't gonna fly, unfortunately.

Very cool. I used to run my first fanless system bare on my desk, just mounted to a lian li motherboard tray. The one cat at the time was careful not to step on it. An increase in the number of house cats and their habits quickly necessitated a case. The dust and fur will waft no matter what. Prepare to buy an anti-static (esd safe) brush for cleaning. Went with the NH-P1 (and the NF-A12x25 fan just in case). As Amos says before the Thoth Station battle... this should be interesting.
