I was about to be upset since I received a Loki Mini + literally a couple days ago, but the $150+ was already more than I really wanted to spend for some bass boost. Balanced ins and outs definitely would have been nice, though with my Bifrost 2.
@fraggler, lokius does have balanced connection but internally all adjustment is done single ended so it’s not true balanced. Also Bifrost is known to have good SQ out of SE as unlike its bigger brother so I feel you are good with Loki mini.
I'm as yet unsure if the trade-off between marginally-better sound and feeding audiophilia nervosa is worthwhile. @schiit I'm glad you built it, but—a *real* heads up (not merely an "it's coming") would've been gentlemanly. Whatever good reasons you have, it just doesn't come off as nice.
@Claritas what are you talking about? Schiit almost never give a heads up about when a specific product is coming to market or shipping. When did you buy your Loki Mini? Marv just did a review of it (look for the thread) and it measures great, so SQ wise I wouldn’t worry about the nervosa. The main point would be 2 extra bands and XLR connections. Also it’s double the price.
