I was trying to locate weird high pitched tones in my room, and this one stands out. It stops when I pull out the power plug, so seems to be internal to the device.

I had a USB C hub that did similar -- made a high-pitched whine when it was powered. Never figured out why, but guessed it was a slow-motion-failing component.

What’s the make and model, so we can all avoid it?

My standing desk has a control pad that makes a high pitched whine when the display is turned on. Drove me nuts until I found it and turned it off.

There was a switching power supply (for an external hard drive or USB hub?) that did this in my office. Drove me nuts. Switched out for another generic one and no issuesZ

I asked an EE buddy, and he says the router would have some internal power switching, functioning normally..

I have developed immunity to tones above 13khz.

Cap squeal or coil whine, pop the lid and get a straw.

Oh, wait not ambient but in the signal. Get a ferrite and wrap the power wire through it many times, could be ps noise getting into your audio gear.
