I was using a Gungnir A2 for a while for synergy but once my chain changed to allow my Wavelight to be put back in, I was reminded just how damn impressive and refined it is.
I think I also should try to avoid hearing a Wavedream.
@Merrick Depends on what era the music you like to listen to comes from (unless you want to be a hipster and play records of music made in Ableton/Pro Tools).
I agree with @AdvanTech, there are times when the vinyl has a better master, but that's essentially an anti-pattern, it shouldn't be that way, but otherwise, like 99% of my library is recorded/mixed/mastered digitally, buying those albums on vinyl doesn't make a ton of sense to me
Ive got the balanced version. Fake as in the opposite of "real". Which isn't to say it sounds real, I guess it could be better, but in that its a step function increase in "realness", such that everything else I've heard sounds noticeably less real as a result
realness also isn't a first order effect, its 2nd or 3rd order, a combination of several other things. I would guess micro dynamics, detail, plankton and macro dynamics being the most crucial aspects to creating realness in this context
Out of all the crazy shit I've heard thanks to the locals, the Wavedream and the EC Af are the ones that captivated me from first listen. They made me believe in magic :)
