@Merrick I have always heard that, but anecdotally, my clear pressing seems to be some of the crappier sounding ones in my collection, so I always figure black for stuff I am prioritizing best audio. All seems like a tossup, other than a couple of clear cut truths I have found. Glow in the dark vinyl and purple vinyl sound TERRIBLE.
@Inoculator White vinyl should be avoided too, something about the ingredients used for white are known to degrade sound quality. In general, if a black version of the mastering I want is available, I opt for that.
@Merrick agreed. I am a sucker for Limited edition colors...but I am weaning myself off of that life and settling for black more often. Mainly matters how it sounds anyway right?
Have to admit I'm really sceptical about it all, given variations in pressings, maybe also mastering, will also be involved. I have a handful of fancy colored items but would rather just stay with black (as I seem to recall some actress said about her underwear).
