Maybe you need both versions. Measuring driver performance excluding as many confounders as possible and predicting human head-ear perception are two important objectives I believe. For the latter, imho, you will eventually need dummy head, simulated skin/hair, and artificial ears..
I'd argue for one that better reflects human skin with the bouncy trouncey and all unless you wanna measure performance sans enclosure effect. Arguments about brain filtering said effect out and FPC treble being more representative of perceived sound still stand though, ergo both.
I'm thinking some floppy neoprene with a suede pigskin leather cover is probably the ticket. I guess the best thing to do is try options and see what looks best! Can't wait to do distortion and CSDs better than EARS ever could...
