Interesting. But does that noise get passed on to the endpoint? I guess I've found that there's a convenience factor. Your desktop/laptop probably isn't always on and ready to stream, and it's sometimes (very slightly) annoying to have to get up and wake it up. A Nucleus, etc. is always on by design.

Convenience was one major factor why I built NUC based core. Also I don’t have a desktop and my laptop is what I use for work and I can’t install lot of software due to security policies and even if I can, I run lot of CPU intensive software and applications and hence I wanted to keep my music related stuff out of my laptop. ROCK OS is perfect for roon.

I run an Innuos Zen Mini as my Roon server. It compares favorable with a Roon Nucleus.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm running Roon core now on my regular desktop PC, and am thiking of offloading it to a dedicated box and was just looking at options. Nucleus is just a one stop fanless option (at a $premium) I was looking over...

Maybe my input tube (6CG7) has more gain from factory (it's new production) or my OG tube lost some gain over about 1.5 years of use?

The two cars I'm in regularly - a "sport" (thus the lowest trim) 2017 Mazada 6 and a 2012 Honda Odyssey minivan both share the HD650's tonality (no sub bass, distorted bass + mid bass hump, mid focus, upper mid emphasis, etchy and sibilant highs), as does most stock car systems I can recall

My wifes Toyota Sequoia however does not, it's worse (a JBL branded "premium" system) and to wish it sounded like an HD650.

Car audio is a big scene / industry, but I've seen pretty much zero overlap with the headphone online communities. Well done bridging the gap.

LOL DigMe, I had just opened the door of the 2nd fridge we have in the garage when it popped on me (about an hour after the garage door had last been used). That garage door is lucky I was not armed at the time ;)

My first thought was that someone had wrecked their car into my garage door so I went outside. When there was nothing to see there I could only assume someone was in my garage. I couldn’t imagine such a crash happening any other way.

I've never owned a standalone humidifier that lasted more than a couple years. I think the ones that integrate directly with home HVAC are the only ones that do.

The Corvette got the green arrow and pulled out into the intersection, but a HD van (did not catch the company) was running the red light. Corvette was t-boned on drivers side, and the A pillar was so collapsed it's hard to image the person survived.

The Van went along to collide with a Toyota Corolla as well, but at a side swipe angle so those folks probably lived even if they had injuries. Reminds me to minimize our time in our small car, and spend our miles in our heavier ones...
