    Reduce playback rate on all modern recordings by 1.81818181%, got it :) then again equal temperament is so effed up anyway, any mathematical relationships between notes centered around A432 will hardly be clean and neat relative to something like just intonation or the pythagorean tuning system ...

    Have heard this for years, always wondered about the validity of it. Anecdotally, orchestral and some other instruments tuned around 440Hz have always sounded sharp or otherwise off to me even if my intonation isn't the greatest.

    Then I found out that even 100 years or so ago each city or region actually tuned to different frequencies and some places really did prefer 432Hz A...

    I discussed the 432/440Hz idea with some orchestral musicians who found it a ridiculous simplification. Apparently different orchestras tune differently - we're not in a 440Hz world at all. Some conductors even have their orchestras drift in tuning during a performance.
