I wouldn't shame you, Android phones suck lately.
I may make the same jump two years from now if they're not at least on par with the iPhones performance and battery.
Not my first bout with Apple. Early adopter of iPhone 4. I aslo guess I can still use all my Google crap. Basically there were several reasons to switch and not much to stay.
I'm mostly retired, but still do contract work for my former employer who use Apple with an MDM. I prefer Android personally, but spend a lot of time carrying one of each and the differences in utility are small. Good choice to have.
I've recently moved over to Android for the first time. It's caught up in most ways, and doesn't prevent you using your phone the way you want to. Plus it is 4x cheaper to get a phone with a large screen. The Samsung Galaxy "A52s" is tremendous value. Even so I'd still recommend iPhone to anyone non technical, budget aside.
I think mostly Apple now has some of the features I liked about Android and the differences are much smaller than ever before. My work is Apple only for email, so that too was part of it.
