    As in, not through the headphones, but the sound is coming from the tube and traveling through the air. It's loud enough to be quite annoying.

    Tapping the top of the tube with my fingernail makes it go away for a bit then it comes back.

    Any reason for this or way to stop it?

    Tube dampers will help. Don't tap it you'll make it worse or damage the tube.

    @Syzygy has right idea. Tube oscillation and or vibration from another source. I run tube and amp dampers.

    I found it pretty rare for most of my 6sn7 tubes to not oscillate say after 48 hours, very few times would I get one that wouldn't maybe its just that. long warmup time?

    The noise seemed to stop so it must have been a break in issue. But I got some Herbie’s tube dampers anyways :)
