I was waiting for MoFi SACD releases, but saw good things said about the 2015 remasters. D/L Diver Down, liked it, bought the others! No need for SACD, except for curiosity.
Personally I find the DCC of the S/T to be too warmed over. I know a lot of people love it but I think the 2015 hi-res is more balanced, crisp, and detailed.
I have very nice hi-res digital release of the Grateful Dead's studio albums, and the MoFi SACD releases of Workingman's Dead and American Beauty sound at least as detailed, but with more dimensionality and texture. So MoFi might be able to improve the VH albums but I'll need to hear them first to see if it's worth dropping $30 a pop on them.
FWIW, the 24/96 version of the 2015 remasters from HD Tracks is very loud and compressed sounding. I have VanHalen and 1984 in 24/96 and they aren't as pleasant as the 24/192 versions. @Merrick@YMO@DigMe@Walderstorn@roshambo123
The 24/96s came out first and are different transfers IIRC. Same mastering, but they didn't just take the 24/192 and convert it to 96 for whatever reason, they did a whole other transfer and botched it.
