MQA thread is sooo Head-Fi. High on emotional venting and conventional wisdom. Soooo low on content and insight. Apr 8, 2023

First week of improvement was the EllevenAcoustica drivers breaking in. Next month of improvement was finding more comfortable pads and cable. Then it's just been a case of noticing what I reached for..

I've been using it heavily these past few days, and exploring the options. I love how you can disable extraneous services. Its Tidal integration is way ahead of Audirvana - for example it can play mixes and track radios.

@Vtory The LTS series are designed to be modular - meaning switchable drivers etc. Most reviews have discussed them as if they were standard all-in-one headphones. Since you tend to do deeper in-depth analyses, it would be awesome if you can give some insights about the headphones vs the specific drivers installed for the loaner.

@Woland That's a very good point. Although I am afraid I may not experiment across alternative drivers (I don't have any), I will be focusing on possible perceived notions of 'module' as claimed -- from an average consumer's perspective.

I had Audirvāna Plus and had to switch to JRiver when Audirvāna would create double entries for every single file in my music collection. I cannot figure out why or how that was happening and I just got fed up with it. I did try a trial of their sub based app and I did like many of the features but the price was way too high.

Audirvana devs have some great ideas and technology but it hasn't been a good customer experience for many of us. I use an older version mostly for adding AudioUnit plug-ins for DSP to Tidal. My sense is that they don't give a damn how we use it or want to use it though.

I haven’t used Audirvana, but I’ve had really good success with JRiver. When you purchase a license, you essentially receive lifetime support. The development team will answer questions about older builds on the JRiver forum.

If it’s a better mastering than any red book version and it’s an album I love, up to $20 for a single album and $30 for a double. Although usually the hifi merchants have discounts or coupons so I normally pay less.

I haven't tried it yet but I feel like high sample rates are beneficial in a system with DSP. All that digital processing means that you get less digital artifacts after applying filters.

I remember a quote from an audio engineer that 96khz was an ideal frequency for recording and mixing music.
