I was listening to Solti's rendition of Eugene Onegin with royal opera house orchestra (w/ Sus). Three times in a row. Hella beautiful orchestration with great details. Cues were almost visible.

@jexby I have used a 4.4 mm adapter to XLR to drive my Atrium from the Gryphon. It’s not TOTL amplification, but it’s not bad at all.

The Atrium just might be my favorite headphone ever and I've owned a bunch. It's also the first ZMF I like. My prevailing thoughts early on was that it's the ZMF phone for those that never really did like the house ZMF sound and still feel that way a month in. This headphone is special.

Current mods = Dynamats on the back + foam disc folding + pad spacer + front damping replacement (microsuede) + zmf pilot

Still looking forward to trying out zmf 6x0 pads.

I also love how magically my current "cool and clear" upstreams (X18 + HO200) pair with the modded 650. The sum is the most enjoyable yet resolving 6x0 combination for me to date.

I'm not a car guy, but that's pretty amazing. You can see the thousands of hours he poured into the thing.

Single sided magnet design, different diaphragm, trace and magnet structure than the LCD-5. Machined aluminum body, metal headband with no holes in the leather. Uses LCD-X diaphragm, sounded better than LCD-X but it should for costing more.

Sidegrading = costly masturbation. Pick a philosophy and pursue it until it no longer interests you. E.g. High complication, high driver count speakers + high wattage class-a SS amplification + latest ESS chip DAC, or! high efficiency simple driver/crossover + low wattage SET + R2R or better vinyl rig. Don't cross the piss streams and piss-stain your life with extraneous gear-dicking-about.

@nishan99 Exactly. I'm seeing side-grading as a sort of extended home auditions or investigation that we don't have to feel to be pushed or forced. There used to be generally so many new discoveries, findings, and fun. It's pretty cool as long as we know what we risk..
