    Thanks @Merrick that's the hint I needed. The publisher "Blackstone Audio" website did not have a download, but it pointed me to www.downpour.com where I was able to purchase and download an MP3 version.

    Not exactly what you're asking but the Libby app is on most platforms and allows you to download audiobooks from your library. I find audiobooks incredibly overpriced and get them that way.

    Libby is wonderful but they have arbitrary limits on the amount go digital copies that can be loaned out at once, so I can understand why someone would want to purchase a particularly valued audiobook.
