    Had been running Roon/serious listening from Pi2AES via AES, and work laptop (zoom/youtube/etc) via USB with the Yggdrasil. Finding that USB is as good or better via the May though, and I want to mess with HQplayer from my Roon server PC, so going to switch to USB connection there. Leaves me needing to find a solution for work laptop though.

    Pi4 on Pi2AES can take usb input. I've used it with HQplayer embedded doing PCM upscaling on the Pi4. Volumio etc may support the USB input also.

    FYI - PI2AES has nothing to do with the USB input. That is a PI only path.

    @Woland I didn't know the Pi4 could could take USB input. Are there any writeups for setting this up? Also can you comment on sound quality?

    @kee7a The input is via the "Raspberry Pi 4 USB Gadget" so you'll find writeups by googling for that. Sound was as good as any other cabled connection and it was an easy way to upsample the regular sources (flac, tidal) with the addition of less friendly sources (spotify, youtube, games..)
