I'd recommend adding Auteur/Atrium to your consideration list if you like the FR of the OG Clear. Also the LCD-X needs mods to have a more even FR (I agree with the recent hype about RD's Audeze mods).
Audezes are know to be just as fragile. I would go Sundara or ETA if I'm heavy using my headphones like for example traveling a lot of daily taking them to office.
@rlow , I am a 70-80db kind of guy and I progressively encountered the dreaded driver rattle. When I rmaed them, they asked if I dropped them, listened loud or pushed the eq at all. I am probably guilty of bringing it up to 85db, which shouldn't hurt them. I love the sound but feel like I don't always want to be worried about being super careful with how I listen or if they take a bump or two.
@roshambo123 ...Yes. my 600s get occasionally dropped, dragged, and bumped. They look and sound great after 5 years of living like this. I was super careful with the clears, but I found it a chore. They're Just. So. Nice. I'm looking for at-work phones that are a step up from the 600s, but can take the occasional drop. Interested in the LCDX but the 800S might be better for my use-case.
@roshambo123 , I have a pair of 800S s inbound. In my short audition with them, the sound signature is really interesting to me. Also the fact that Senn continues to support their headphones decades in, and the reported durability of them were all deciding factors. What amp are you using with them? I am planning to reterminate a Neotech OCC cable with 800-cup jacks.
@roshambo123. Thanks! I have been looking at the MJ2. I had a JOT 2 while ago and sold it, hastily, when it didn't sound right with my Hilo. I hadn't understood how the gain staging worked with the Hilo at that point. I have a Rebel Amp right now and will see how it sits with the 800Ss.
