Confusingly named the "Original Master Phones Amplifier". I don't actually think it bites, there are some pretty compelling things about this considering it cost USD200 back then (no idea what it'd go for now).
I like it. Apparently the separate concussion brick has a decent toroidal trafo in it and that could explain the eerie blackground. Sonic images pop out of the abyss, and it doesn't sound constrained like other super "clean" amps. Bass hits like a baseball bat. Not warmpoo. Some treble pain, but I'm wondering whether that's the Modi 3+ tizz exacerbated. The fact that it slams this much out of M3+ is kinda wild.
Main gripes besides treble pain are the headstage. Comparable lateral extension to the Magni 3+ but the front to back layering is poor. Very in-nasal-cavity forwardness. I'm out of practise critical listening I think but this isn't bad. Gross resolution is more than acceptable but I'm just casually listening. Good pot, can get usable range on HP-3 but not much play.
