Granted I am in the honeymoon stage, but this is like a honeymoon in paradise with a supermodel. Only downsides are I do have some low-level hum (not noticeable enough to be an issue and still toying with adjust), it weighs almost 100 lbs, and it gets hot AF. Sonic nirvana though with my LS3/5a.
I had the LM501 on loaner, It sounded powerful , fast and linear. Very controlled bloom but at the cost of microdynamics.
But overall very good. I was surprised to learn it was chinese make.
I've been really curious about all the Line Magnetic stuff...very interested in how you like the gear over time. Some amps pop up on US AudioMart from time to time and seem reasonable. Company ethos is to bring back old Western Electric style stuff?
@AdvanTech Same. When I first started getting into speakers I went to Gig Harbor Audio and heard this amp, with LS3/5a speakers, and my life was changed. Have had my LS3/5a for a couple years now, was time to finally try the amp that got me into them in the first place. Even better than I remember.
@CEE TEE that is my understanding. I have to admit I was reluctant due to Chinese construction, but the recent acquisition of a Holo Audio May convinced me I should let that concern go. Line Magnetic doing some cool stuff, I had the chance locally to hear the LM-812 speakers they make, super fun listen.
Awesome- I have looked at their page and seen the old Western Electric speakers and replicas. Can't wait to hear it someday. Congrats on the amp being even better than you remember!
Oh damn, both brothers passed away in 2019?? I didn't know about the two companies. Thank you for these links. Hope things continue and are as good as in the past...
So 3 companies/line-ups: Line Magnetic Zhuhai (modern), Line Magnetic Foshan (WE Replicas), Analog Sound (new most modern version and a sub-spinoff from Line Magnetic Foshan).
