Not a fan of binders here. Dust and gunk accumulate over time, and the binders themselves (cover, zippers, stitching, etc.) don't ever seem to last. In the end I usually end up in boxes or shelves with jewel cases.
This Really Useful Box has been...uhm, really useful. I have about 10 of them storing my entire CD collection. The boxes stack really nicely. Each one holds 93 CDs.
The CD sleeves sold here (https://spacesavingsleeves.com/) make it possible to store CDs with their inserts/booklets in a lighter, more compact way than jewel cases. But they won't work well on a shelf. It's hard to read the spines.
I am bipolar when it comes to stuff. If it can be digitized, I want it all on a single device so I don't have clutter. But I also miss touching paper books and physical media. I ripped everything I have and put the discs into binders for storage. But if I had the space, I wouldn't mind getting cases again to make some sort of display wall. - I think keeping physical things should be intentional with a plan.
I totally regretted the first time I moved cds to binders; I rebought jewel cases. But now I'm back in SoCal and just don't have the room to keep cds in cases and yet my nervosa fears letting them go and keeping only digital copies... I've been contemplating the dreaded binders again. Sleeves might be an ok idea, too.
I regret binders and I regret slim cases. I love digipacks. I can see binders working if you have them in a similar genre. I have considered wooden trays to sit near my CD player
