A guy on my street had a fire 10 years ago and the house is still sitting wrapped in Tyvek. Can't do the stucco till the improperly installed windows are fixed. Opposing lawyers are making a career of it.
He was pretty stressed out the first couple years, but he is just resigned now. Him, the insurance company, and various (sub)contractors (and their insurers) all have lawyers, and the city is involved too for code issues. Makes me shake my head.
Speaking with him we are both very sure far more money has been spent in the legal system than the entire repair job would have cost even if they did it twice. Nobody wants to take any blame though, and that appears to be worth more money than anything else.
