Seems off -- I remember pretty distinctly being able to touch the tubes on my Valhalla 2 when I still had it, even with prolonged used and high ambient temp. Could still be possible, though, unsure.
Not saying you're doing this, but I wouldn't worry, regardless. I've seen so many people make posts on various forums over the years concerned about thermal issues/temps with Schiit gear, and can't recall a single person ever actually having an issue with "overheating"/damage/what have you that required repair or replacement. The Schiit chassis-as-heatsink deksigns can get people worked up over nothing.
@internethandle Sure. More morbid curiosity than any real concern. I’ve ran it for hours on end with no problems. And like I said, completely unscientific measurements.
Laser thermometer? Unlikely. You probably have IR thermometer with laser pointer. It will measure everything emitting infrared spectra. That can be the filament itself behind the glass envelope. When you see metal glow red it usually means more than 400 deg C.
