The major reason I bought my first headphone setup is because the dual Vidars can overwhelm my AC on hot days. Now I sometimes find myself listening to the cans even on cold days. Totally different but equally enjoyable experiences.

This is precisely why I've purchased relatively expensive IEMs ($500+)

@Tchoupitoulas - I’m starting to see why IEMs are so big in SE Asia and Japan. It’s not just because of portability but those are very humid countries where full-size headphones are just plain uncomfortable

IEMs are no-go for me, so I end up on low-wattage two channel. AB still puts out heat, but it's not going to overrun the air conditioner.

Then again, by the time it reaches uncomfortable temps, often I'd just rather be miserable in silence.

I guess I'm kinda fucked 'cause my home speaker amp and headphone amp are the same 300B room heater.

I used to call the summer in Chicago "IEM Season." In Carolina, everything's air conditioned, so it's not an issue. Here, I call the summer "Tea Time."

@Claritas In Carolina, wouldn't that be "Sweetened Ice Tea Time"? /s

@Qildail Close by, in Georgia. North Carolinians aren't overenthusiastic about much of the south. We're quite friendly toward Tennessee; and, in private, a little hostile toward South Carolina. I can understand why. We're polite, warm, and unpretentious. And South Carolinians are gentlemanly or ladylike military sorts. (They have pole up their ass!)
