I haven't been in the game for a while, but Crutchfield was my go to for recommendations and purchases due to their compatibility tools and adapters/harnesses. I had decent luck with some Kenwood speakers on the low end, and have had JL Audio recommended to me as an upgrade.
I'd just go to Crutchfield and see what fits your vehicle. On the low end you probably can't go wrong with anything thats coming from a brand you've heard of before. Agree with @Vansen that Kicker is decent. I think they actually OEM for other brands. I currently run Morel and Kicker in my Jeep but have also recently used Kenwood, Pioneer and Infinity in other vehicles.
Kicker is my go-to if impedance matching isn't an issue. Every vehicle I've owned has ended up with kicker speakers except my 300, which needed 2 ohm speakers for the factory 8 channel amp, so I went with Infinity.
Hey, thanks for all then suggestions. Currently considering JL Audio, Focal and Kicker. I wasn’t planning on adding an amp and Crutchfield seems to indicate that the Focals I was looking at would benefit more from an amp.
Also, looking at 6x9’s because these are in a front door that can take either 6.5” or 6x9. I usually have it faded to the front because of my kids so I want full range up there. All of Focal’s 6x9’s are too deep for the door so it would have to be 6.5. The JL audio speakers fit. I think Kicker will too.
