Interesting. Do these Mark Levinson, Focal, and any other "high end" efforts have any value over the good Bose and Sennheiser models? If this Focal is at Elegia level SQ, the answer is no for me given the price.
They look too “nice” i prefer stealthy stuff for outside. The new Momentums are imo an improvement over the old ones looks wise. Sound wise I wasn’t happy with the old ones either, the bass was bloated and distored and eq did not help, i was locked to the app coz iOS things though.
Take with grain of salt since I sell both, the ML 5909 is overpriced for the technical performance and build/performance. It has a decent tuning, its straight Harman but its techs aren't worth the $1000.
The Bathys I haven't heard just yet, getting a pair in next week. But told by my colleagues who heard it, generally decent and a well tuned ANC headphone. On the technicalities it is generally good/better in DAC mode. And it is quite a punchy headphone
So with that built-in USB DAC, this is more or less an active loudspeaker in headphone form. That’s something I’d really like if it’s done well. And I love the Focal house sound. Damn, if it sounds good, I fear I’ll have to buy this.
