Elon obviously just felt like buying Twitter as a weird flex. Then when he realized what he was getting into he tried to pull out. Twitter board sued to force him to buy something he obviously didn’t want to and it’s been a hilarious disaster
And now since ANYONE can get a blue check for $8, there’s been massive impersonation. Realizing that verification wasn’t a badge a status, they’ve introduced another check which served the original function
The whole thing with people impersonating Musk and discussing things e.g. emerald mining and the like seemed to touch a nerve, those accounts were immediately suspended. Also, it's inevitable that there'll soon be a paywalled check for the check that serves the function of the original check.
Word on the street is he is trying to make it a super-app. But Inknow we all find it hilarious that the $8 blue check went away because too many people making fake accounts. Duh. Lolololol
