Seriously horrendous, I agree. Company has its own proprietary system for reviews, though, and just uses Workday for payslips and W-2's and such. Still hate it, payslips are displayed/organized like they were designed by a chimp brain in a vat.
I’m so glad we left performance reviews in the dust years ago. Our performance based conversations are better and more productive now than ever, in part due to it. The only thing I have to officially document are my goals, which I’m always allowed to revisit.
^ Agreed. Best reviews I've received and given / gone over before were all in person chats with an excel chart or relatively brief MS word doc as a summary and guideline for talking points.
@internethandle - I think you nailed it. Don't think the programmers have to actually use the system.
@Woland - You also nailed it. Imaging asking someone with 50+ years experience to create an individual development plan like they had no idea where they were going with their career.
@Vansen - sounds like you have a very enlightened management system. My manager is also enlightened and shares the frustration of dealing with the corporate HR mandated system. Many monthly discussions is far better than the year roll up.
