This just happened to me. Time away from the rig helped a lot, yeah. Psychoacoustics is very weird sometimes.

I'm having the opposite issue. ;)

So is computers. A reboot can work wonders.

I am strictly not into snakeoil, especially digital, and I am sure there is a good reason for this.

Hmmm... Perhaps we should all study computer science?

@Thad E Ginathom Yeah, I know what you mean. In the past when I’ve felt like this I’ve sworn all sorts of things moved the system back to not sounding like ass, including turning components (or the PC!) on and off. Later, it would seem like doing the same action made no difference. Go figure.

Actually, I don't think it would take /much/ figuring. But it would take a deeper knowledge of hardware interaction, operating system priorities, interrupts... all that stuff and more. I don't want to take up all that stuff now. All I can say is that I'm sure it isn't actually weird, but I can't explain why.

@Thad E Ginathom I actually agree - I have a long history with Windows audio “tweaking” and USB audio in general is very weird. Controversial topic though, and even with what I know I also can’t explain why, either. But yeah, interrupts, CPU threads and handles/overhead, resource allocation/affinity, something like that.

Yep, I tweaked some in early days of Windows audio, and later (to present) in Linux audio.
