I have no idea why, but them's the rules. I guess they are worried about MOT's selling their own stuff for a profit? Seems like just making a rule against that would be the better way to go. MOT's still use gear they don't make and often have great stuff to sell.
@Merrick because it's more uploading images and typing. I just thought people would have interesting opinions. Also, if you only use one you build up feedback that makes transactions easier,
I alway see stuff in the used deals thread referencing USAM, and very rarely Audiogon. My nicer purchases have been posted on USAM and I've never ran across HP stuff I want on Audiogon, just 2-channel stuff.
I've never really had luck selling on USAM, but have sold on Audiogon. Fees are higher obviously. I think you can do free listings (or at least you used to be able to), but then they'd take a cut. Kind of like eBay, but not as egregious if I recall correctly.
USAM feels more like audio-focused Craigslist, for better or worse. Some cool people, but also some weirdos. Maybe try both and follow your gut.
A'gon is ORFAS (really just dealers who cater to ORFAS buyers), USAM is just craigslist with a better search function. Anything outside of cheap Grado and Focal Utopia seems to be far beyond to A'gon buyers knowledge of the headphone space. Honestly, maybe consider eBay and let hifishark do the work to match a seat for every ass.
My vote is USAM. Echo others that A-gon is ORFAS-ish and not usually very oriented toward the HP space. I’ve both bought and sold on USAM multiple times without issue, as an anecdote.
