I've never fully understood the hype around the HD650 and derivatives even though they're definitely good 'phones and an excellent value. They just don't do it for me like the above do.

Both those hp ^ are f'ing EXCELLENT, altho I've not heard the 6XXB specifically, I have the 600v1 and 600B and JAR660S, and all of them were exceptional hp, but the B mod, imo, is a mother trucking t r a n s f o r m a t i o n, meaning, if you didn't like the vanilla 6X0 before, you might change your mind with the 6XXB, I know I did...

And the RD-X is hands down the best planar you can get for the price. How RD changed the timbre alone is a feat of magic. The rest of the tonality is finally cohesive cf. lcd-x and it sounds to many ears to be 650ish (in a good way—natty and neutral-warm). If you could even just tolerate the lcd-x before, the RD-X will be something of a marvel.

Can't wait to hear your impresssions of both phones!

Swap the Verite Closed for the open model and those are 3 headphones I use regularly. Sometimes I look at them and think I should really downsize but I can't bring myself to do it.

@caute I love the JAR headphones, but every V2/ B version that goes on my head never makes it through a full song. Too much mid range suck-out and too much mid bass for my tastes. RD-X is bomb when paired well, IMO.

The vB on a black screen 600 is the ticket, don’t get that suck out at all, and is tonally more similar than different to a silver screen v1. I suspect a vB on a later senn (silver screen) may not be my personal preference.

Yeah. I want to be clear - they sound good, but I think it's a personal preference.

@Vansen that’s how I felt—just abt the v1 instead. I think rather than a mids suck out, the treble and bass were lifted to balance out the inherent mid centric sound of the driver (?). Sounded neutral & natural to me, perhaps someone else’s light v-shape? In the end, preferences tho, like you and Brencho said! But a 600 that’s extended at both ends, hits hard & w no veil?
