It's anyway not a good timing for the S2. I'll re-consider when they will become <$300 -- perhaps 3 years later?. I do remember how my actual impression of 660S1 in 2023 differs from early criticisms. So, still giving S2 the benefit of doubt.
His and DMSs reviews are definitely not a great start. I think the main "issue" with them is that dip at 4.5k, which is narrow enough that it might not actually be that big a deal in practice. The one thing that neither of them address which I am curious about was rather it still had the slightly metallic timbre of the 660s.
@Raimei Templar Andrew's and Senn's 4.5khz dip reporting is likely a coupler-related artifact, only shown in 5128 (for both S1 and S2 660s). Other couplers failed to fully replicate to my knowledge.
