My girlfriend's daughter listened to my HD650 and said "Those sound good, really good! Of course, I couldn't wear them anywhere." (She had some $400 Beats.)

@Dino My wife says the same things. It is a completely valid point and headphone makers would be wise to step up their aesthetics considerably. She loved the look and feel of the Meze Classic 99 and has a pair that looks like the Senn Momentum (though predates it). Meze, make a better v2 and I'll buy it, dammit!

@Azteca - I understood my girlfriend's daughter's viewpoint. For her the Beats were more a matter of fashion than aesthetics. She wore them most of the time, around her neck when not on her ears. HD650 would not have been the same.

Dino, also, you don't want to wear 650s out and about- she's dead right.. no isolation, and they leak like a sieve!

(That absolutely was the prime concern, of course.)

I was just interested in her reaction to hearing HD650. I guarantee you that open vs. closed did not enter her mind. (If she was interested in them, I would have explained about open headphones.)
