Anyone have experience with the Lefson coupling modules (capacitors)? Thinking about using them as cathode bypass caps in the Aficionado

I just realized there is music coming out of the output transformers of my Aficionado when there’s nothing plugged in...

No, but I’ve heard of Tubes picking up radio signals. This is basically the transformer playing the music fed into the amp from the Gungnir Multibit. It was very puzzling at first

If you get the opportunity to watch film tracks without music accompanying, do so. Changes your perception of the scene entirely.

Andro + ZX2 combo really is amazing once you get a good fit. The plan is to sell them but I don’t know...

i love that combo too. my motto is sell what you don't have a good use case for. unless you can afford to keep everything/anything! so i keep the combo for my commutes, makes them way more enjoyable.

Enjoying the Liquid Fire. Will changing the tubes impact the sound? Read in a review that it doesn’t because of the circuit design.

Just FYI most of North Face's backpacks start from the same 'chassis' but have different 'tops' sewn on. Do take a look at some of the other designs.

Besides the darkening of the white brand embroidery my Surge II still looks new 4 years on.

@Grahad2 i like how it looks and the size seems perfect for me. Good to know they’re also durable. Pretty excited to get this Friday.

Buy something that you can lock (with a baggage lock, &c.). Mine is a Targus. It's very sturdy, but I seldom use it because I usually leave my laptop at home. I also own a Timbuk2 backpack. It's very good, but the fact that it doesn't lock is a real downside. Lately, I've been using a rolling backpack from LL Bean. It's both simple and well-designed, and it locks. Highly recommended!

I'm glad people are comparing the Amethyst to the Gungnir Multibit in the Amethyst thread even thought the Amethyst is a NOS DAC.
      1. Melvillian
        Melvillian
Only comparing NOS DACs to other NOS DACs isn't very helpful to those who want a good DAC and don't really care about oversampling/non-oversampling.

Thank you. Home and portable rig should be done for now. Will provide impressions once I spend some time with them. It's a lot to take in lol
I'm also working on the Bill-P mod for the HD580. Will do a comparison with the HD650 (maybe KISS modded if I decide to mod it). If people are interested im ok with sending it on a tour also.

It is. Congratulations. You finally got the grandpappy of it all. :)

Honestly, if you like stock HD6xx sound, just swap the grills on 580 and live happily ever after. The mod won't really change much other than nudging it ever so closer to measuring flat, but subjectively, it shouldn't sound that much different.

How does the grill swap impact the sound? I'm assuming less resonance since the grill is not plastic and is more open

Yeah, overally, it just makes things a bit less peaky. Nothing drastic. I'd say it's more for looks than anything unless your upstream is particularly peaky.
